About the Series

The Adventures of Bobby O’Malley and Bandit began with the author’s own childhood. John Jacobs grew up in Southeast Florida in 1949, when the land between his house and the beach was still wild, an undeveloped stretch of jungle and woods that reminded him of a Tarzan movie. His imagination carried him on countless adventures through those jungles, and years later, those memories became the foundation for this trilogy.

In Little Bobby O’Malley, readers meet Bobby as he saves the life of a young Seminole boy named Tenatke-Yaha (Thunder Wolf). The two become best friends, and after Bobby rescues Thunder from a panther, the people of his village give him the name Hakla-Kowechobe: The Boy Who Talks to the Panther.

In The Spirit of the Conch Shell, Thunder’s tribe has moved deep into the Everglades, and Bobby sets out in search of new adventures. He finds a new best friend, and when she falls into danger, Bobby and his loyal dog Bandit must risk their lives on a trek to seek help from the spirit of the conch shell.

In The Pirates of the Bermuda Triangle, the author’s imagination leaves the jungle behind and carries readers on an exciting adventure at sea.

All three books are both educational and fun to read, capturing a Florida that no longer exists, and a heartwarming ending that will bring tears of joy to young readers of all ages.
